We have one of those home steam cleaners, but I’ve never used it and can’t find the directions for it.

Also, will it take stains out of your carpet? I a spilled nail polish in my room and the carpet is still pinkish.

Try going to the companies website. (for example, if you have a Dyson go to Dyson’s website) They will probably have a manual on their site that you can download.

And yes, a steam cleaner gets out stains. That is what they are for. Nail polish is a tough one though so good luck.

I had a list of things to do before the carpet cleaners come, but I’ve lost it. Anyone know what we need to do before they arrive at our messy home?

I’m sure I need to pick up loose items and make sure nothing is on top of furniture, but what else?

I work for Serv Pro. All you really need to do is just make sure that your carpet has been vacumed very well and that there are no small items on the floor. Pack any valuable and breakable items that may be on the table tops yourself to prevent accidental damage. The cleaners will take care of the rest.

Does anyone have a steam cleaner that they love? Pros and cons of steam cleaners you’ve tried?

I agree with Mike…never ever use a steam cleaner on hardwood flooring..humidity is the main factor in keeping your hardwood safe…your home’s humidity should be between 30-50% .. wood absorbs water/steam and the heat will ruin the finish..it can cause warping and heaving in floors..do not use it on hardwood.

I have two little dogs: A 1 year old and a 16 year old. They have accidents or they do it on purpose, not sure which. I went and bought the Bissel 2X Heat Pro and it works great. Easy to operate, relatively quiet and easy to clean up afterwards. The heater makes a huge difference in loosening the dirt. Has a powered spinning handle tool that’s great for furniture and the car too.
