I have to say that I have read all the "answers" that ppl have left and Edward I is the one you should listen to. It is not that you’re not getting the dirt out, but that you are leaving too much residue in the carpet, and that will attract new soil like a magnet.
Rinse the carpet with a VERY MILD mixture of water and viniger(maybe 1:100 ratio). Once you get all the soap residue out of the carpet, it will stay cleaner longer.

Yes, but make sure it is low sudsing.. If not add a small amount of liquid fabric softener to the shampoo.=)

Can you use other carpet shampoo mixes in a Bissel Steam Cleaner?
The instruction manual says to buy only Bissel shampoos, but I think it could be biased to sell more expensive shampoo. Are the generic shampoos okay?
Yes you can!! I clean houses and businesses for a living, done it for years, I’ve never had a problem with using different brands of carpet cleaner’s, with a bissel, or any other brand of steam cleaner. They are all the same!!

What is the best carpet shampoo out there??? ALso reoccuring stains keep copming back how to get rid of them??
OK i usually use bissel with scotchguard .. I want to try something new.. ALso i keep getting these reoccuring stains back on my carpet and have noo idea how to keep them at bay HELPPPPP>>
I just finished shampooing all of my carpets and I use Bissell and it works well for me…….be sure to use a rinse cycle after you shampoo, the reason you are getting the stains coming back may be because there is soap residue left in the carpet which attracts the soil to those areas…we have two great danes and a dachshund and the Bissell has worked great for me, I also have a Hoover Dual V shampooer that does a great job, carpets dry in no time.
